Figurative drawing has been my favorite subject to study since the 9th grade. I began practicing traditional figurative sculpture and conceptual art creations during my time as a Fine Arts student (1991-1997). I received a Bachelor’s degree in the Fine Arts from Michigan State University in 1997. My experiences in the arts include assisting other Artists with their art work, working for other Artists, working in Michigan galleries, showing my Art work in Michigan galleries, and most of all...thinking about art.
After college I practiced drawing and sculpting with various materials (with very limited facility and time). I built a a 500 square foot garden for flowers (and the outdoor sculptures I work on from time to time), I made two Beautiful masterpiece children, Nathe and Evan. After many years of planning, I built a 400 square foot workable studio in 2004. I began melting glass above a flame in 2005. While learning to create small beads out of glass, I discovered glass murrini, and became aware of so many possibilities with this wonderful medium. I have applied my sculpting skills to working with glass, and I am studying with experienced glass artists to learn traditional and New skills with glass.
My day job~ I work in my family owned construction business producing auto cad shop drawings. We work closely with Architects and contractors to provide and install institutional furniture. We also store used equipment that helps make a great art studio, or science lab. From cabinets to service fixtures, fume hoods, computer desks, and even library furnishings, we help Michigan facilities get the best they can.
I believe everything I have done this far has been my vehicle to get to where I am now artistically.
(Beads are sculptures too!)
